About Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki , “Universal Life Force Energy of the Spirit”,  is an ancient,  energetic healing practice that was brought into modern times by Dr. Mikao Usui.  It is a gentle, non-invasive, healing technique that can be given in-person or at a distance, and is often used to support balance and harmony during times of stress or illness.

It is a holistic healing energy that works with the body’s subtle energy system to clear mental, emotional,  physical, and spiritual blockages.  It can gently lift memories, emotions, or beliefs that need to be released or changed to restore energy and promote physical healing.   Healing is often the result of gentle shifts in awareness, release of emotional patterns, achievement of new understanding, and daily practice.   The Reiki therapist does not control or direct the healing, but brings in this life force energy to the recipient with intention.  It is a practice that is easily incorporated into daily living, promoting a life of vitality and joy.

Reiki is used today in hospitals, clinics, and other settings all over the world to support health and wellness.  It is a complimentary energy medicine that works well in concert with western medical treatments and can be taught to anyone. It is not, however, a replacement for medical treatment and Reiki therapists do not diagnose or prescribe medicines.

Holy Fire Reiki © , a system of Reiki developed by William Rand, is a gentle, but powerful system of Reiki that provides healing, empowerment, purification, and guidance, focusing on giving voice to the authentic self, recognizing the influence of programmed belief on the body’s wellness, finding solutions to life problems, and developing inner guidance and divine guidance.

Karuna Reiki © , also developed by William Rand, is an advanced expression of the evolving nature or Reiki, that awakens our hearts to a deeper  level of love and compassion for ourselves and others. It serves to heal traumatic experiences held deep in our cells as well as our shadow self.

All of these systems work together harmoniously during a Reiki treatment.

How does Reiki work?

According to William Rand, founder of the International Center for Reiki Training:

"We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called  the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body.

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and  charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears,  straightens, and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way."
